About the Role
We are seeking a high-agency Founding Forward Deployed Engineer to join us at the frontier of applied AI commercialization. As an early member of the team, you will be a true generalist with the autonomy to shape our product, playbooks, and culture from the ground up.
This is a role for an engineer who thrives in the “0 to 1” phase. You will be responsible for engaging directly with customers to translate ambiguous pain points into elegant solutions. We value technical excellence, a bias for action, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You are the person who turns “we have eleven people who spend all day doing this” into “Silmo handles it.”
What You'll Do
You’ll automate a customer’s messy, real-world workflow. To do so, you’ll be in high touch contact with the customer, understand their needs in detail, sit with them to understand the implicit rules and exceptions of their workflow, and rigorously build and deploy a solution.
You’ll also help push the platform forward. Every automation you build is a case study in what the platform should make easy. When you find yourself writing the same pattern twice, you’ll propose the generic abstraction. Our harness evolves from patterns FDEs discover in the field.
Build evaluation and feedback loops. Production accuracy matters more than demo accuracy. You’ll build eval datasets from real customer data, design checkpoint flows so customers can correct the AI’s work, and use those corrections to improve prompts and grading over time.

- LLM Sophistication: Deep expertise working with LLMs. You understand the nuances of agents, model evaluation, and building resilient systems around stochastic outputs.
- Full-Stack Fluency: You are comfortable moving across the stack and don’t require a specification to identify and fix bottlenecks in the frontend or infrastructure. If a customer points out a bug in a UI, you’ll fix it that day.
- High Agency and Autonomy: You have a track record of operating independently in high-growth environments. You make smart trade-offs to move fast without sacrificing quality.
